Southern Utah Fall Tour
6 riding days and 7 nights lodging
1010 miles

September 29 to October 4, 2010

This is the perfect fall tour to end a great season of riding. In late September, we will travel the country roads of Central Utah and spend the evening in Bryce City and enjoy the sunset at Bryce Canyon National Park.  The next morning will offer a little more exploring in the park before we ride Utah’s Highway 12 to Torrey, Utah. Highway 12 has been called one of the 10 most scenic roads in the United States and we know a couple of hidden spots along the way that won’t disappoint! We spend the night in Torrey and have dinner with a friend of ours at his restaurant which is a Fodor's Choice 2008 award recipient.

The next morning we fuel up, visit Capitol Reef National Park, and travel through Southern Utah’s red rock wilderness to Natural Bridges Monument for our lunch break among some remarkable rock formations. We then travel down the Moki Dugway switchback, a beautiful 1000 foot unpaved drop to the “Valley of the Gods” and head to Bluff, Utah for our overnight accommodations in the red rocks where we will have one of the best steak dinners in the Southwest. Don’t worry about the switchbacks, our bikes can handle it.

The next day we will venture into Canyonlands National Park to a remote location called “Newspaper Rock”, one of the best examples of Native American petroglyphs in Utah. On to Moab, Utah by way of a high wooded mountain route, to a two night stay in a downtown scenic location with dinner at one of the finest micro brewery restaurants in the Southwest.  The following day we can explore several of the incredible areas around Moab including Canyonlands National Park, Arches National Park and Dead Horse Point State Park, all of which includes some of the iconic landscapes that have made Utah famous. Bring some hiking shoes for some of these for some short hikes.

Our last day will take us through the high mountains of central Utah back to our luxurious accommodations in Salt Lake City. Six days, 1100 miles, four National Parks, a National Monument, and an incredible state park. Nice way to end a riding season in the Rockies.
